Eeva Vilkkumaa

Eeva is a professional researcher, speaker, and educator. She is an Assistant Professor of management science at the Department of Information and Service Management at Aalto University School of Business. In addition to her academic work, she has extensive experience in teaching at the world-renowned Aalto Executive Education in programs such as “Strategic Foresight in Business Management” and “Analytics and Data Strategies”.


Eeva’s research interests include the development of novel methods to support scenario-based strategy development and multi-objective strategic decision-making using methods such as portfolio decision analysis, multivariate statistical analysis, and optimization. Methods developed by Vilkkumaa and her research group have  been used to support the strategy processes at several private companies and public organizations.


Eeva’s strengths are in using quantitative and analytic methods to support better decision-making, but she believes that understanding humans and their needs is equally important. Therefore, she utilizes soft design thinking methods and empathy alongside analytical approaches in her client assignments.
